Naval Combat Rumored in next Ubisoft Game, ‘Assassin’s Creed: Origins’

Sources Claim Additional Details about the next Assassin’s Creed

2017 is the year a new Assasin’s Creed will arrive. Giving that Ubisoft skipped last year, it may be a warmer welcome than usual. We’ve been receiving all sorts of leaks and rumors over the course of this year and last. This time, however, sources apparently close to Ubisoft delivered new info to WWG.com.

Assassin's Creed Looking Back top screen

Originally, it was rumored that the next Assassin’s Creed title would be ‘Empire.’ Ubisoft sources are now saying the game will be called ‘Assassin’s Creed: Origins.’ It will still be set in Egypt, and we should expect a big reveal at this year’s E3.

Furthermore, the game is said to revolve around two protagonists – a man and a woman. Both characters are members of the original assassin’s guild and that’s the focus of this installment. The story will not be linear like previous titles; a new element of player choice will affect the ending. Moreover, ‘Assassin’s Creed: Origins’ will place more emphasis on exploration. Players will have a lot to see in Ancient Egypt.

To make things even better, if true, players will be able to sail the Meditteranean; with sailing, there will be naval combat. Not the first AC title to include this, but we’ll see how the mechanic plays out in this particular setting. The alleged sources from Ubisoft are calling this Assassin’s Creed the biggest in scope.

Live like an Assassin

And as a preview of what we might see at E3, sources say the working trailer includes scenes of Ancient Egypt transitioning to different periods such as WW2 and modern day Abstergo. It is a blend of gameplay footage and CGI. At least, if we see a trailer along these lines at E3, this may be a confirmation of everything else.
