Platinum Games Goes Sesame Street for Possible Bayonetta 3 Announcement

Brace Yourself for Some Tin-Foiled Bayonetta 3 Speculation

In a rather bizarre and cryptic move, Platinum Games, the studio famous for the action-heavy Bayonetta series, has released a post on its website along with some short videos. The post goes into talking about three English lessons, each featuring Bayonetta spouting a phrase like “Do you naughty little angels deserve a good spanking?”, “Bust a cap in ‘yo’ ass.”, and more. So, why does this matter that Platinum Games is going Sesame Street on the internet? Well, all these videos in the post feature these odd phrases being looped three times. And while it may be a bit conspiracy theory-ish to go down this route, it wouldn’t be a big stretch to say the significance of the three loops points to a Bayonetta 3 reveal soon.

With E3 coming up quick, everyone is employing new ways to cut through the noise and stir up interest. I mean, we have Target giving its shopping carts an ill-advised Mario Kart-themed makeover to celebrate the launch for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. As for Platinum Games? They released a 8-bit Bayonetta game on April Fools Day this year to pump everyone up about the PC port of the original game that was released earlier this month. Furthermore, that version of the game featured an easter egg in the folder of that game to another Platinum Game, Vanquish, which implies we’ll may be getting a PC port of that too. So yeah, Platinum Games be crazy.

In an interview with Polygon last year, the studio’s director, Hideki Kamiya, said that they would be interested in making Bayonetta 3 upon Scalebound‘s completion. Unfortunately, Scalebound was officially cancelled earlier this year. While the Xbox One exclusive’s loss was a painful blow for the studio, they’ve made strides in returning to good graces lately with that Bayonetta port to Steam and their instrumental work in helping to develop NieR Automata, a game we can’t recommend enough in our review.

With Scalebound dead, we may finally be to seeing the return of the witch who takes a Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” single to the nth degree.
