Have you ever wished you could be just a little bit more precise when trying to gun down your pals in a friendly game of Team Slayer on Halo? Nailed that zombie right in between the eyes on CoD? Well the answers to your calls for FPS dominance have been answered… kind of.
Kontrol Freek brings you their line of extended thumbsticks aimed to give you maximum control and accuracy in your shoot ‘em up endeavours. They quite handily snap on to your existing thumbsticks providing you with another half inch of leverage as well as concave rubber grips that are super comfortable all while being easy on the eyes with cool laser etched designs.
You might think that adding a half inch of height on to your existing controller thumbsticks might not do much, but surprisingly I found it to make a remarkable difference on my treks through Pandora in Gearbox’s latest offering of Borderlands 2. Skags never had it as bad as I took aim and fired off rounds right in the face with ease. That being said it took some getting used to, but once I adjusted I enjoyed the precision boost that these snap on “extenders” gave me. The first hour or two of play I definitely noticed my thumbs getting sore but it went away fairly quickly and soon after felt very natural.
Personally I’ve never had a problem with the height of thumbsticks on any controller I’ve played on so when it comes to using this on an Xbox 360 controller I could ultimately take it or leave it. I have, however, hated the rounded tops on the Playstation 3 controller so adding the FPS Havoc on to my Dual Shock has become a permanent fixture. No more slipping off the analogs!
Ultimately the FPS Freek line, coming with a price tag of around $14, won’t break the bank and certainly adds a little bit of precision to your sniping. If your aim stinks these won’t solve all your problems but if you take your first person shooting games seriously they’re a cheap addition to help boost your game. It helps that they look badass too. I know I won’t be taking them off my PS3 controller anytime soon and for those with Xbox 360 controllers, you may just feel the same.
