5 Reasons To Be Excited For Yooka-Laylee

Variety Variety Variety!

I’ve battled a huge, tentacled beast and raced a cloud in space. I’ve gotten flirty with some flora and racked up high scores in a variety of arcade games. I’ve even cashed out large at a shady casino and believe it or not, taken the form of a school of fish swimming through murky waters. That’s barely scratching the surface of my experience so far. There seems to be a fair amount of variety to what you’ll be doing from one moment to the next and with roughly 15 hours invested so far, I’m only a little over 50% completion.

Witty Writing

Playtonic Studios is made up of a lot of Brits and their sense of humor drips from every line of dialogue that’s thrown on screen. Any character with something to say exhibits a very distinct personality and there hasn’t been a moment so far where the writing hasn’t brought a smile to my face. A hilarious snake named Trowzer is a stand-out for me as the repliesss and excusesss that ssslip from his tongue are ridiculous.

Fantastic Music

If you know the names David Wise and Grant Kirkhope then you’re probably already expecting some magical and soothing tunes but for those unfamiliar with their names, these gentlemen played a big part in the creation of Donkey Kong Country’s and Banjo-Kazooie’s stellar soundtracks. They know what makes a great melody and so far they haven’t disappointed. The tunes in the background of Yooka-Laylee compliment each environment wonderfully.

Yooka-Laylee releases April 11, 2017, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. A Nintendo Switch release is planned but no release date has been announced.
