What an amazing few months it has been to be a gamer! Our regular ‘Big 5’ feature has been increasing every month lately from five to seven to ten and now twelve! No matter what your platform of choice you’ve got solid exclusives and killer multiplatform titles to choose from. In this lead up to the holiday season we are finally getting the rush of new games for our current generation consoles. November is the biggest month yet so what are you picking up?
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Eleven games in and no signs of slowing down you can’t have a biggest games list without Call of Duty being mentioned. The first of the franchise with Sledgehammer Games (High Moon Studios for the last gen versions) fully in charge it looks to take the familiar gameplay in a bit of a new direction with the introduction of the exoskeleton. The franchise is undoubtedly running the risk of becoming stale with a run this long so some big changes are probably necessary for its continued success. Of course one of the best things about CoD: AW is Kevin flippin’ Spacey!
Super Smash Bros. (Wii U)
The cult of Super Smash Bros. is one of the most rabid fanbases in all of gaming. The 3DS version was released last month and the excitement for the Wii U version has hit a near fever pitch ever since. Nintendo’s flagship beat ‘em up makes its Wii U debut and brings along the amazing looking Amiibos with it on Nov 21st. Are you ready to smash?
Halo: The Master Chief Collection (Xbox One)
All four games in the main Halo series make their way to the Xbox One console with the crown jewel being the anniversary treatment of Halo 2. Fans are insanely pumped up for this release and the boys in green are surely counting on Master Chief to help fuel their holiday sales. Releasing on 11/11 (obviously, right?) the MCC includes all of the previously mentioned games multiplayer modes and add-ons as well. If you’re looking for a lot of game for your hard earned dollar then your buck stops here.
LittleBigPlanet 3 (PS3, PS4)
Sumo Digital takes over from Media Molecule on one of Sony’s most highly regarded exclusive franchises. Introducing new playable characters Toggle, Swoop and Oddsock will aid Sackboy in his journey this time around. Crazy fun co-op and the most advanced level editor yet seen in an LBP game this one is a no brainer for PS4 owners.
Assassin’s Creed Rogue (PS3, 360)
Ubisoft isn’t quite ready to leave the last generation consoles in the dust just yet. The 360 and PS3 only title Assassin’s Creed Rogue is visually stunning and surely pushes the old hardware to its absolute limits. Step into the shoes of Shay Patrick Cormac and discover why he leaves the Assassin’s Order behind to join up with the Templars. Set in numerous locations over North America you can go rogue on Nov 11th.
Assassin’s Creed Unity (PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Wait… what!? Two Assassin’s Creed games in one month!? Ubisoft spreads even more assassin love to the new generation of consoles with AC Unity. Releasing on the same day as AC Rogue, players try to uncover all of Paris’ secrets during the French Revolution with the assassin Arno Dorian. With all new parkour mechanics, new co-op modes and more customization than ever this is one adventure AC fans won’t want to miss.
WWE 2K15 (PS4, Xbox One)
The current generation of consoles finally get their dose of WWE action after WWE 2K15 debuted on the last generation of consoles in October. Looking to refresh the franchise the developers, Visual Concepts and Yuke’s, are trying to make it a true wrestling game as opposed to a ‘fighting game with WWE Superstars in it’. A lot of changes and some serious star power have this game on a lot of wrasslin’ fan’s holiday wishlists. Pre-orders get access to Sting too and that’s basically just awesome…
Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, Xbox One)
Continuing with the current trend of definitive and enhanced editions, gamers will be able to get the visually improved next gen version of GTA V in November. Enhanced visuals, new wildlife, more music and the ability to carry over progress from last gen versions puts this high on the must have list. One of the highest rated games of the last generation it’s guaranteed to sell like hot cakes.
Dragon Age: Inquistion (PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One, PC)
In the eyes of many fans Bioware has a lot to make up for after the lacklustre Dragon Age 2. Taking many of the fan’s criticisms to heart Bioware is back with a vengeance and DA: I is looking to get the franchise back on track. You’d be hard pressed to find an RPG lover who isn’t frothing at the mouth for its release. Fusing elements from both Dragon Age: Origins and DA 2 players can expect a deep and engaging storyline on top of hours and hours’ worth of action.
Far Cry 4 (PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One, PC)
Ubisoft brings the heat in November with another game on our list! The single-player story follows Ajay Ghale, an English-speaking Nepalese native who returns to Kyrat, a wild and untamed region of the Himalayas to scatter his mother’s ashes. Once there, he becomes caught up in a civil war as the people struggle under the despotic regime of self-appointed king Pagan Min ruling under an oppressive monarchy. I don’t know about you but that sounds awesome… sign me up!
Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (PS3, 360, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, PC)
You pretty much can’t go wrong with a Lego game, especially the ones that feature super heroes. Following the events of Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes, Brainiac uses the powers of the rings of each Lantern Corps to take over the universe by shrinking planets to add to his collection. In pursuit of the Legion of Doom, Batman and the Justice League must travel into the far reaches of outer space to stop them.
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (Wii U)
The little blue speedster is back with this action adventure game for the Wii U console. Developed by Big Red Button it follows Sonic and friends as they battle against the evil Dr. Eggman. Of course no Sonic game would be complete without an accompanying cartoon as Sonic Boom the animated series debuts on the Cartoon Network on Nov 8th as well. Sure to put a smile on the young one’s faces it releases on Nov 11th.
