Quests You Don’t Want to Miss in Baldur’s Gate 3
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a big game. Scratch that, a massive game. So much so that during your journey, it’s inevitable that you’ll miss out on at least a few things. The good news is that your path forward will always remain viable regardless of what you do and don’t see. But, if you’re like me and are constantly second-guessing your decisions, worried you may have missed some juicy content, COGconnected has you covered. Below, we’ll cover a handful of quests that you really ought to take the time to complete. After all, maybe the real Baldur’s Gate is the stories we weave along the way.
6. Acquire Blood of Lathander
If you’re looking for something to boost the healing prowess of your party, look no further than the Blood of Lathander. Found (relatively) early on when traversing through the Mountain Pass, a monastery named Rosymorn holds the key to finding this powerful weapon. Once inside the monastery, a puzzle involving four ceremonial rewards will need to be completed to obtain Lathander. Technically, Lathander can be acquired without solving the aforementioned puzzle; however, in doing so, you’ll trigger a four-turn countdown to the destruction of the entire monastery. Tread cautiously, but don’t miss out on this powerful early-game weapon.
5. Save Mayrina
Once you’ve gotten off the ship at the beginning of the story, the Sunlit Wetlands will become available for you to explore. Within this area, you’ll discover an old woman named Ethel being confronted by two brothers. You can choose to deal with this as you please. Afterward, Ethel will set off for her home, inviting you to join her whenever you’d like. Once you’ve located the house (which isn’t far from where you first met), you’ll begin to sense that not everything is as it seems with Ethel.
What follows is a dark, twisted quest that demands your full attention. This can be quite difficult, so you may want to spend some time leveling your party before taking a crack at saving Mayrina.
4. Deal With the Devil
Baldur’s Gate 3 offers a boatload of ways to tackle most quests. One of these – Deal With the Devil – is one of the best examples of the ingenuity players can showcase when pushing toward their goal. As the name suggests, Deal With the Devil will tempt the player to make a pact with Raphael, an antagonist NPC that is literally part demon. Whether you accept his offer or not, there are many brilliant ways in which this questline can play out, proving even the devil can be outwitted when tested against your mettle.
3. Aid the Underduke
Do you find yourself with a penchant for befriending as many characters as possible? Are you committed to building your party to its full potential? If so, Aid the Underduke is a quest you won’t want to miss. Be forewarned, though, as this quest also comes with the possibility of permanently losing a party member. Aid the Underduke is a sprawling mission that will take you through several areas while examining your morality. Twists and turns abound in this one, making it one of the most intriguing side quests found in Baldur’s Gate 3.
2. Rescue Volo
Stumbling upon the Goblin camp found in Act 1 is something most players will do. Be sure to explore it as thoroughly as possible. Upon arriving at the camp, you’ll find a helpless Bard named Volo being forced to perform by a horde of bloodthirsty goblins. After his introduction ends, Volo will be whisked away to his cell until his services are called upon again. Ensure you help him escape. Not only will he join your camp, but one of the most disturbing scenes in BG3 is tied to Volo’s “research.” Just be sure to accept his offer to help remove your parasite when the time comes…
1. Solve the Open Hand Temple Murders
The Open Hand Temple found in Act 3 contains one of the most fascinating quests in Baldur’s Gate 3. In what could be described as BG3’s take on ‘Clue,’ solving the Open Hand Temple murders will put players’ detective skills to the ultimate test. A serial killer is on the loose, and it’s your job to determine the culprit as they leave a trail of bodies in your wake. If you’re a fan of true crime, you owe it to yourself to uncover the details of this sinister plotline.
Thank you for keeping it locked on COGconnected.
