THE BLITZ: WII U SPECIAL

NOVEMBER 18, 2012

THE CONSOLE:

Nintendos latest console hits store shelves on November 18, 2012.

The Wii U is the first Nintendo console to support high definition graphics, capable of producing video output up to 1080p, and has 2 GB of memory with half dedicated to the systems operating system.

There are 2 versions of the system:

Basic – $299.99

The basic package is a white version of the system with 8 GB of internal flash.

Deluxe- $349.99

The deluxe package is a black version of the system with 32 GB of internal flash memory. Also with the deluxe version comes a stand for your controller and a copy of Nintendoland.

THE CONTROLLER:

The primary controller is the Wii U Gamepad which features an embedded touchscreen. The touch screen is used to supplement the main gameplay shown on the television, or with supported games can allow the player to continue gaming by displaying the main gameplay on the controller itself.

Also available is Nintendos Pro Controller which is a regular controller without the touchscreen. The controller is similar to the one used on the XBOX 360.

THE GAMES:

NEW SUPER MARIO BROS U

New Super Mario Bros. U is a new, side-scrolling adventure featuring Mario, Luigi, Toad … and your Mii character! Now’s your chance to step inside the Mushroom Kingdom and explore new worlds, new power-ups and new ways to play. Up to five players can jump into the fun, with up to four people using Wii Remote controllers and one on the Wii U GamePad. The experience is different, depending on which controller is used.

NINJA GAIDEN 3: RAZOR’S EDGE

Ninja Gaiden 3 offers for the first time a look at the world through Hayabusa’s eyes, showing what drives him to fight, and kill. At the center of the conflict this time around is a masked man whose motivations and goals are unclear. Through mysterious powers, he changes Hayabusa — and the lines between hero and villain, good and evil, are blurred forever.

Featuring a new story, new gameplay and new modes, Ninja Gaiden 3 marks a new direction in this fan-favorite franchise. Team Ninja aims to change the way fans think about ninja and Hayabusa in this game, and promise that they’ll know what it feels like to “cut someone down” through their experiences in the game.

And in this “Razor’s Edge” recut of the game, the female ninja Ayane joins the battle as a new playable character in her own exclusive chapters within story mode. With more weapons and Ninpo types, a new character progression system, a redesigned battle system, a new character, two-player online co-op game play using Ryu and Ayane, and the return of dismemberment, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge improves upon the original Ninja Gaiden 3 in every way and offers Wii U exclusive features and functionalities.

NINTENDO LAND

Nintendo Land is a fun and lively theme park filled with 12 different attractions, each with its own take on a Nintendo franchise. Each attraction features unique and innovative game-play experiences made possible by the Wii U GamePad controller. Depending on the attraction, players can compete solo or against other players, or even team up to play cooperatively. Up to five players can participate in dynamic multiplayer modes in select attractions.* The experiences change every time, depending on whether players are using the GamePad, holding a Wii Remote or just watching others play on the TV screen.

SCRIBBLENAUTS UNLIMITED

Scribblenauts is back with Scribblenauts Unlimited for the Wii U, featuring more expansive gameplay and setting no limits on how the player uses his or her imagination within the game. The Wii U version also opens the creative gameplay up to others in the family as Scribblenauts Unlimited can also be cooperatively played together in local multiplayer.

Created and developed by 5TH Cell, Scribblenauts Unlimited features a huge side-scrolling open world with new, high-definition hand-drawn scenery and objects where players can help the game’s hero, Maxwell, solve robust puzzles and challenges by summoning any object they can imagine. Players now have the ability to create their own original objects, assign unique properties, and share them with other players online – to be used in game or further modified as they like! And for the first time, learn the backstory about Maxwell’s parents, his twin sister Lily, and how he got his magical notepad.

ZOMBI U

ZombiU puts players in the middle of London circa 2012, where an outbreak has infected the population, destroying their humanity and turning them into mindless monsters preying on the flesh of the few remaining survivors. This fear-fueled first-person shooter takes all the terror, chaos and tension found in the best of the horror genre and adds original interactive elements, including a unique death mechanic that puts players in the body of a different survivor each time they die, allowing them to track and take down their old, infected characters, recover their equipment and see if they can stay alive just a little bit longer this time.
