Earlier this evening, Madden Ultimate Team developers were hard at work. As the 79th annual NFL Draft kicked off from Radio City Music Hall in New York City tonight, developers were dropping the first-round picks into Madden Ultimate Team (MUT) packs as the players were drafted.
Madden developers have done this in the past with just a few high profile players selected in the first round but never have they included all 32 first-rounders immediately during and after the Draft. As the Draft was unfolding, the dev team updated Ultimate Team after every 5-10 picks, so gamers were able to nab players before the Draft was completed.
Joe Alread Associate Producer for Madden Ultimate Team explained “we’ve done this before for say 5-10 players selected in the draft but this is the first year we have taken such an ambitious step with all 32-players selected in the first round of the NFL Entry Draft”.
“We have really blown it up this year. We have seen Ultimate Team become more popular than ever as hardcore fans love collecting MUT packs. This year we wanted to have all 32-players available as the Draft was taking place or right after the Draft” Madden Associate Producer Joe Alread said.
For those hardcore Madden faithful still playing the game this far into the NFL offseason, the release of these packs will be undoubtedly be something MUT fans will love. Being able to play with Jadeveon Clowney from the Texans within minutes of his first overall selection is thrilling. Seeing how he performs as one of the most highly touted pass rushers is something I will unquestionably want to see.
Alread explained all the players drafted will be rated in the low to mid 90’s as far as overall ratings are concerned. So in other words you will notice them on the field and they should make an immediate impact on your MUT team.
When asked if some of the players who were traded on Draft day would receive MUT packs, Alread indicated this could be a possibility but would not happen the night of the draft.
If you were one of the ones who grabbed the special Draft collectible items released earlier this year, you were in for a treat. Fans that have one of the new Draft players and the corresponding collectible item will be able to redeem them for an Elite version of the player as well as a gift of up to a million Madden Ultimate Team coins.
Over the past 8-months Madden Ultimate Team developers have been dropping new content in conjunction with true live events. For instance, following his signing with the Patriots, you can purchase a pack that includes Derrell Revis on the New England Patriots. That is just one of many examples of how the development team is committed to providing a true live service, constantly putting out new content that’s relevant to Madden fans, and keeping up with the biggest real-world NFL happenings.
Here is a timeline of Ultimate Team content that’s appeared alongside real-life NFL happenings:
If ever there was a good time to try out MUT on Madden 25 it’s now. Every console version of Madden 25 will have access to the newly drafted players. So get out there and give it a shot.
