6) Star Wars: Battlefront II Fiasco with Loot Boxes and Microtransactions
If there’s anything to learn from Star Wars: Battlefront II is to not make it so obvious money is everything. With a ridiculous of amount of microtransactions affecting gameplay, one cannot simply ignore how out of hand things have gotten with “non-mandatory” in-game purchases of items and DLCs. Specifically, ability upgrades and new characters amongst other things are the target of Star Wars: Battlefront II’s microtransactions that truly takes away what Star Wars: Battlefront II could have successfully been without such an economy system. With EA already having a mediocre representation, this further allows questioning, skepticism, and issues with EA’s other current titles that have microtransactions, as well as ones in the near future. 2017 was truly the year where pay to play became an even more uncomfortable phrase to hear.
7) Where is that VR must have game?
VR has been out for a good amount of time where a handful of people can easily have it in their homes as long as they have the money to pay for it. While VR is all cool and dandy, what’s the must-have game that truly utilizes the system, sets itself away from other games, and makes VR as amazing as we perceive? Sure, we’ve had Resident Evil 7, Doom, Skyrim, and Fallout 4 playable with VR, but they don’t stand out as ‘THE’ VR game to have and play. Will we ever get the god-like VR game we have been dreaming of?
