3) Take your decisions seriously
Detroit: Become Human requires you to face hundreds of decisions throughout the story, all of which are important and could have lasting consequences. If you make the right choice, you can unlock paths that will be suddenly become available in the future, however if you make the wrong one you could be faced with certain death. Interestingly, these decisions, even some which you may find light in emotional depth, can block out entire paths in future chapters. Heed this warning: your characters can and will die based on these very important decisions you make. If that’s not enough to make you think twice about every snap decision you have to make throughout this thrilling narrative, I’m not sure what will.
4) Pay attention to time crunches
Throughout Detroit: Become Human you will be faced with various time crunches. Even simple actions and decisions require quick reflexes, and there’s no denying that if you’re not paying attention you’ll end up with a choice you may not have otherwise picked. In addition to these regular time crunches there are some huge countdowns illustrating the time left to make some massive decisions. These are decisions that can make all the difference moving forward safely. Examples of this are choosing whether to run or hide when you only have a few short seconds to decide or being forced to pick the fast and risky route because you don’t have enough time left for the long, safe way around. These can be extremely important shapers of the future of your story, for all three characters and you don’t want to jeopardize this by not being cautious with the time given at the beginning of the scene.
5) Replay missions for better outcomes
At the end of the day, this is your story and you can shape it to your preferences. If you’re unhappy with the outcome at the end of each chapter, or you feel you could have completed it better, it might be worth having another go at it. Whether you do this before the entire story unfolds before you, or after completing one complete playthrough, this can be a rewarding experience all on its own. Before replaying missions you will be faced with yet another dilemma: to save or not to save. If you play without saving you get the opportunity to see what might have been, and which decision branches lead to certain outcomes without having your previous decisions rewritten. And whether you save your changes or not, when you replay each chapter you are able to complete more of it (a percentage that is up in the top left corner), which then reveals different branches previously greyed out and unavailable.
If you’re unsure about whether or not you should save your progress while replaying specific chapters, it really comes down to how confident you are that you can achieve a better or more rewarding experience this time around. Hell, even if you mess up you can just play through it again, for a third time, or however many times it takes to get it right.
