User Friendly Loadouts
While Infinite Warfare still has a pick ten system, gone are the days where you have to take wildcards to equip extra equipment or perks. In place of the wildcard system, the second piece of equipment, primary weapon, or perk simply takes up two slots of your loadout. Even though this might seem like a minor change, the wildcards have been a part of Call of Duty for years, and the switch to a two point system makes it easier to equip these second slot items. This two point system allows players to make loadouts faster, and is ultimately more user friendly than ever before.
Customization and Salvage Currency
A big part of Call of Duty has always been customization of weapons, and characters, both of which are featured in Infinite Warfare. Earning camos has never been easier as supply drops now give you camos for all of one type of weapon, such as every assault rifle, or handgun, rather than one camo for one specific gun. On top of this, instead of needing to earn headshots with your primary weapons in order to unlock camos, you simply need to earn a certain amount of kills with the gun. Combat rig customization is earned through combat, as well as supply drops, which brings back some of the customization that was missing in Black Ops 3.
A completely new idea that Activision and Infinity Ward has brought to Infinite Warfare is the system of salvage currency, which uses salvage gears to unlock better versions of weapons to be used in combat. You can earn this salvage currency through completing team missions, and through supply drops. There are four variants of each weapon, common, rare, legendary and epic, each better than the previous version. While you cannot unlock the legendary or epic versions right away, you can save up and purchase the common, then the rare and so on. Some are available through team missions as well and if you are really lucky, you can earn these variants through supply drops. While the beta did not offer much in the way of crafting, the weapon variants are badass and definitely worth saving up for.
Even though Infinite Warfare plays exactly like Black Ops 3, Infinity Ward and Activision have made some changes that should have a positive effect on the game. Infinite Warfare uses the movement evolution and specialist abilities of the past few games to its advantage, while trying to bring Call of Duty back to its roots even in a futuristic setting. While there are certainly some problems within Infinite Warfare, it feels like old school Call of Duty meets new school Call of Duty, in a way that tries to bring the best aspects of both generations to one game.
