Video game rental company GameFly is diving head-first into game streaming with a cloud-powered, Netflix-style subscription program. The company also revealed today that it had acquired streaming service Playcast, whose technology will power GameFly Streaming.
The new streaming program offers bundled games for a fixed price, starting at $7 per month. There are six bundles currently available, each containing seven games focused on a certain theme. GameFly Streaming is also offering a more expensive “gamer pack” of 16 games for $10 per month.
But wait, there is one thing you’ll still need to jump on board:Â GameFly Streaming is available only for Amazon Fire TV, which costs $100. All games are compatible with the $40 Amazon Fire TV controller. Games are streamed from a PC.
