No Classes or Squads in Star Wars Battlefront

Surprisingly, there will be no classes or squads in DICE’s upcoming Star Wars multiplayer shooter.  Design Director Niklas Fegraeus has told OXM that players will be able to “freely” pick their weapons and gear. You will use XP to unlock them rather than being forced to go down a pre-set progression Class path. This is interesting, considering that DICE shooters typically have classes and squads.

Replacing Squads will be “Partners,” two players who can see each other on their respective HUDs and use each other to spawn on.  An interesting aspect to the Partner concept is that you will get to access whatever your Partner unlocks – giving a big incentive to teamwork!
