A Grumpy Octopus Just Arrived in Ocean Pop!
Circyn Software has rolled out a major update for Ocean Pop! : Calypso Collision, introducing a brand-new Challenge mode for players looking to push their skills and chase higher scores. The new mode adds more difficulty to the colorful creature-matching game while also offering bigger rewards. Players will need to be more careful with their combinations as they encounter several new creatures and hazards designed to make each run more challenging.
One of the biggest additions in this update is a grumpy Octopus. Building chain combinations earns more points, but it also disturbs the Octopus from his sleep. Keep making him angry, and he will start throwing rocks into the play area, making it harder to combine creatures and reach the Whale Shark.
Thankfully, the Peacock Mantis Shrimp is here to help. It can smash the rocks thrown by the Octopus, although its ability needs time to recharge after each use. The recharge period also gets longer with every use. The Squid also returns, allowing players to clear creatures when they are close to crossing the game-over line. However, rocks can block its path, so timing remains important.
Alongside Challenge mode, the original mode has been renamed Cosy, offering a slower pace and larger play area. A new Tutorial also helps newcomers learn the game’s controls and mechanics. The update also includes performance improvements aimed at reducing CPU and GPU usage. The game is currently 35% off on Steam for two weeks.
Overall, this update gives Ocean Pop! a fun new twist for players looking for a tougher challenge.
