The Best Weapons You Can Find in Pragmata
Pragmata is here, and it rocks. It isn’t a drastic departure from typical third-person shooters, but it does enough to carve itself an identity that feels pleasantly unique. Aside from its fast-paced, hacker-focused gunplay, Pragmata accomplishes this through an authentic, well-developed relationship between its two main characters – Hugh and Diana. I don’t want to spoil anything, but by the time Pragmata’s credits rolled, it wasn’t a want to keep Diana safe, it was a need. The father/daughter bond these two develop and share, despite their biological differences, is both fascinating and heartwarming. In fact, I’m sure (somewhere) it made a grown man cry.
So what I’m saying is that protecting them is non-negotiable. As such, I’ve come up with a list of everything you need to keep your eye out for to ensure these two have a happy ending. Damnit, they deserve it!

7. Jackhammer
Technically, the Jackhammer isn’t available until your second playthrough. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t include it here. It’s an absolute monster that is capable of pulverizing enemies even without hacking them. Of course, by the time you actually get your hands on the Jackhammer, hacking will be second nature. Even still, if you’re looking for a “set it and forget it” type of weapon on subsequent runs, this is the gun for you.

6. Charge Piercer
“A powerful Attack Unit that fires armor-piercing rounds. When charged, its power and piercing effects dramatically increase. Unaffected by range, it excels at striking from afar.”
I love me some Charge Piercer. I know the thought of a charge weapon might be scary, but it gets a nice charge time reduction at level three, and it guts armor like nobody’s business. Plus, it ignores range. The Charge Piercer was a staple of my playthrough, and I regret not a second with it.

5. Decoy Generator
“A Defense Unit that creates a lifelike hologram decoy that will draw enemy attention for a short time when deployed. The decoy itself does not deal damage.”
Sometimes the best offense is a good defense. The Decoy Generator will create a hologram that enemy units flock to, setting them up for a devastating attack. Found early on in Sector 2: Mass Production Array, this is one defense unit you can’t afford to miss.

4. Riot Blaster
“A Tactical Unit that fires arcing concussive rounds. The blasts damage and knock back enemies in a wide area, briefly downing foes for follow-up attacks or hacks.”
The Riot Blaster might be the best weapon in all of Pragmata when it comes to synergies. It’s as versatile as it is effective, and can quickly help one turn the tide when all hope seems lost. Spend resources to upgrade it, and eventually, you can crank the damage output above 400. Experiment with the Riot Blaster, and it’ll pay off in spades.

3. Grip Gun
Given that the Grip Gun is the only weapon that you’re guaranteed to have on you from start to finish, you’d better get accustomed to it. Thankfully, that won’t be an issue. I love it when starting weapons are viable throughout an entire playthrough, and the Grip Gun is a shining example of this. It’s steady, hits hard, and has a never-ending supply of ammunition. Like the Riot Blaster, the Grip Gun is versatile and powerful, but most importantly, it’s simply fun to use.

2. Drone Hive
“A Defense Unit that deploys drones which automatically target and attack nearby hostiles. You can switch weapons while the drones are active. Press again to recall them.”
Another must-have Defense Unit, the Drone Hive is a tremendous help when it comes to getting agro off of Hugh and finding some breathing room. The Drone Hive is another item you’ll want to get to level 3 as soon as possible. Once you do, not only do the reserves increase, but so does the number of deployable drones. Go get it.

1. Photon Laser
The Photon Laser gives me the same warm, fuzzy feeling as the Unmaker from DOOM. It rifles a steady beam at your foes that leaves them incapacitated in the blink of an eye, and that’s before you dump any upgrades into it. That’s right, this thing gets more powerful as you progress. It’s ridiculous in all the best ways, and the Photon Laser is my number one choice for keeping little Diana safe.

Thank you for keeping it locked on COGconnected.
