Croak Demo Hops Onto Steam Today Along With a New Trailer

Become the Most Agile Frog in Croak

Today, Québec-based developer WoodRunner Games unveiled Croak, a beautifully hand-drawn 2D action-adventure platformer that blends bouncy momentum with playful whimsy. Alongside a brand-new trailer, the studio released a PC demo for the Quebec Steam Sale Event. The game follows a frog prince as he ventures into the Feast Fair, a strange carnival hosted by the kingdom’s Witch. Featuring animation talent who previously worked on Cuphead, Croak delivers slick, fast-paced gameplay wrapped in meticulous, frame-by-frame artistry.

In the game, players step into the webbed feet of an unexpectedly agile frog hero and leap into action armed with royal determination. As well as a remarkably versatile tongue. They’ll explore blooming swamps, scenic vistas, and eerie carnival grounds filled with quirky encounters and eccentric characters.

At the heart of the experience lies Croak’s cheeky tongue-grapple mechanic. Players bounce, swing, and launch themselves through pinball-style environments where momentum drives every move. The simple two-action control scheme makes platforming intuitive yet deeply skill-based. This encourages precision in bite-sized runs packed with secrets, puzzles, and epic boss fights.

The demo introduces the first region, unveiling the twisted Feast Fair in all its hand-drawn glory. Beyond the carnival, the full game will span snow-capped peaks, shadowy undergrounds, and diverse biomes, each packed with interactive twists, mini-games, and skill-testing challenges.

With more than 1,000 rooms planned, escalating difficulty, optional high-challenge levels, and achievement-driven mastery, Croak promises strong replayability. Players who perfect speed techniques, uncover hidden coins, and conquer formidable bosses may just earn their seat at the ultimate Royal Banquet.
