God Save Birmingham Will Be Playable at PAX West

An Opportunity to Try God Save Birmingham

Kakao and Ocean Drive Studio have confirmed that their upcoming survival game, God Save Birmingham, will be showcased at PAX West, where attendees will have the opportunity to play the title for the first time.

The game has already generated significant attention online, with its reveal trailer drawing millions of views. Now, visitors to the Seattle convention will be able to try the demo on the show floor. It will offer a closer look at what the developers are describing as a historically grounded take on the zombie survival genre.

God Save Birmingham

God Save Birmingham takes place in a carefully recreated version of 14th-century Birmingham, a period when the bubonic plague was reshaping life across Europe. In this alternate vision, players step into the role of a lone survivor. Along the way, they will confront not just disease, but a wave of undead that has overrun the medieval town.

The gameplay emphasizes physics-based survival mechanics. Players can block doors by stacking objects, leap over obstacles to slow down pursuers, and use the environment to their advantage as they attempt to endure relentless attacks from the infected. According to Ocean Drive Studio, this focus on improvisation is to reflect the uncertainty and resourcefulness required in a survival scenario.

Historical accuracy also plays a central role in the game’s design. The team has reconstructed the look and atmosphere of medieval Birmingham. They have combined everyday details of the market town with the grim atmosphere of a plague-ridden society.

The game will be playable at Booth 817 at PAX West, which runs from 29 August to 1 September. You can check out the reveal trailer below to get an early look at the project.
