Neyyah Will Journey Onto Steam This September

Explore Fragmented Worlds in Neyyah

MicroProse and Defy Reality Entertainment have announced that Neyyah, an atmospheric first-person point-and-click adventure, will release on PC via Steam on September 2, 2025.

Set in a fractured realm of abandoned islands, mysterious cultures, and cryptic machinery, the game invites players to explore at their own pace through a non-linear narrative steeped in secrets. With its richly detailed pre-rendered visuals and classic puzzle-solving gameplay, it pays homage to genre touchstones like Myst and Riven.

Players awaken from a surreal dream into a strange and unfamiliar world, guided by the enigmatic Vamir to Neyyah, a chain of desolate islands linked by arcane portals. However, the journey takes an unexpected turn, and the only way forward is to uncover the devices, puzzles, and lore of a lost civilization to return to where it all began.

The game features full-motion video sequences filmed in Mandurah, Western Australia. It was captured by cinematographer Peter Renzullo, with post-production by Sandbox Productions in Perth. The soundtrack is equally ambitious, featuring 29 tracks by creator Aaron Gwynaire and 55 compositions by 14-year-old Zaedyn Turner. This blend of music shifts fluidly between wonder, tension, and discovery, mirroring the game’s puzzles, landscapes, and cinematic moments.

Aaron has meticulously recreated the pre-rendered slide-show style of classic 1990s point-and-click adventures, enhanced with modern 3D rendering for a look that feels both nostalgic and fresh. The development of Neyyah was collaborative, with its now-signature FMV cut-scenes planned and produced alongside a Perth-based cast including Aaron’s former family members and actors from the city’s theatre community.

With its intricate design, handcrafted atmosphere, and dedication to the traditions of its genre, Neyyah promises to deliver a deeply immersive adventure for both longtime fans and newcomers alike.
