Police Simulator: Patrol Officers Review  – Jank Simulator

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers Review

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers Nintendo Switch Edition is not the best thing I’ve played this year. Between the janky animations and mechanics and the somewhat off putting graphics, this one is not on my ‘best of’ list.

Boys in Blue

Who doesn’t like to delve into a new simulator every now and again? Police Simulator: Patrol Officers is Nintendo Switch port of the simulation game. You play as a police officer starting from a small position, going around issuing parking tickets and fines. You can choose from a preset selection of officer characters. With each day, you choose your shift and shift hours and how much time you’re willing to put in.

Police Simulator emergency services

You’ll also file reports and intervene in road accidents as well as a lot of other crimes around the city. Much of it being petty crime. The gameplay seems to operate a little mindlessly, not much of your “police work” takes any actual thought process for engaging play. Though crimes come in a variety of ways and you are offered a variety of ways to solve them. You do however have to make sure the punishment you hand out suits the crime lest you ruin your points and progression. Jay walking, Car accidents, drug deals among many others will need you to go out into the world of Brighton and solve them.

Someone call the Police

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers sounds like a good concept on paper but does not seem to be implemented in the best way. Police Simulator progression works in that you slowly work your way up to tackle more complicated crimes and offenses from simpler ones. There’s admittedly a lot to do but not much done well. A lot of it ends up being repetitive. Even when it’s a new, not so mind-numbing task to take on. Simple tasks become irritating to carry out because there are a lot of instances where the game cannot register what you have already done and lead you to the next point in your task.

Bugs in this game are prevalent and hard to ignore, sometimes messing up your career progression. Some small things would not be too big of a problem by themselves but things like that stack up. For example, a car accident happening right next to the car accident you’re supposed to be handling. All that while another car carries into that first situation. The next moment you’re glitching through a car or a wall. And guess what? You just lost points for all that chaos. Maybe the jank is the appeal.

It’s a Bug Not a Feature

Police Simulator: Patrol Officers unfortunately doesn’t seem to have the best graphics as well as pretty harsh frame drops. Even motion itself is uncomfortable to look at. The character models walk very odd and sometimes Of course this is on the switch so that fact is not helping matters. The game’s controls can be unresponsive and quirky, trying to catch criminals speeding away becomes an impossible task. Additionally, certain bugs in the game can inhibit your career progression during your shifts and make completing certain tasks frustrating. The same does not have the best assets. What with not so great textures and flat environments abound. It’s not the best looking game on the market, not by a long shot. The world has plenty of decorations and stores that make it really feel like a cozy little city and you can make your choice of where you wish to scope out. But regardless it all seems to meld together for me after a while.

Police Simulator Driving mechanics

Overall, Police Simulator: Patrol Officers needs a little more time to cook. The concept of being a cop and working your way up the ladder dealing justice is a great one. Better implementation would take Police Simulator: Patrol Officers to the next level, plus a little more spit and polish because it seems like it was not ready to hit the streets quite yet. All those bugs and jank are a pretty big offense.
