Treyarch has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is getting a new multiplayer game mode and a fresh map this week. “Launch was only the beginning,” developer Treyarch wrote in an X post on Monday. “Tomorrow, the Infected are coming to play. Nuketown joins the party on Friday.”
In the multiplayer party mode Infected, players work to survive against zombies controlled by other players. The objective is to stay human while the zombies try to convert everyone else. Nuketown is a compact multiplayer map that first appeared in 2010’s Call of Duty: Black Ops. It draws inspiration from the U.S. nuclear test sites from the 1950s. Since its debut, a new version of Nuketown has been featured in every Black Ops game.
The game launched on Friday, offering 11 standard multiplayer modes, four alternate modes without Scorestreaks, and a Hardcore mode. There is also a Hardcore mode, where players have less health, a limited HUD, and friendly fire, making for a more intense experience.
Activision announced before the game’s release that players can look forward to new modes being added regularly after launch. The first update dropped over the weekend, bringing some exciting changes. Now, players can earn more XP and weapon XP in multiplayer modes like Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight.
“Our team is closely monitoring XP rates for all modes to ensure players are progressing as expected wherever they play,” Activision said.
