Weird, Weird West
Devolver Digital’s upcoming RPG Weird West is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a Western game that throws in elements and features you would not expect from one. The game has been in development since 2019 and we are finally seeing its release on the horizon.
Over the past couple of months, Devolver has been leading up to Weird West with a series of deep dive videos. These episodes of Road to Weird West highlight the immersive sim, RPG, combat, and stealth elements players will find in the game. This week’s episode shows off the action.
One of the draws to this title is the fantastical element. It is not just revolvers and shotguns, but dark fantasy spells and abilities. This is what will be setting this game apart from those that include just one of these two gameplay features.
When players are given the choice of how to play, popular paths would be the run and gun or the stealth options. Players will find that the unique abilities granted in this game will compliment these styles. Not many Western games will allow you to summon a lightning storm to strike down your opponents.
Previous looks at Weird West show off the world that the player can interact with. Almost every single object players find or see can be used in some way. Fire, water, oil, food, sound, and other things can affect NPCs. Players can use them independently or together to create unique opportunities and maybe even some entertaining goofs.
Weird West will be available on March 31st for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. It will also be available on Game Pass.
