Fallout 76 Players Are Now Making Real World Money For In-Game Jobs

Money Makes the World Go Round

Fallout 76 has not gone according to plan for Bethesda. But that does not mean that among the immense bugs, glitches and other shortcomings of the game that there isn’t a ray of hope. This light at the end of the tunnel is money. Real-world, physical money. Not in-game currency that can only be redeemed at a store or online marketplace. But actually dollars. Fallout 76 players are now paying one another actual money to complete jobs within the game itself.

Fallout 76

While this has not been the first instance of this occurring in the history of video games, it is odd that we are hearing about this within Fallout 76. Some player has said the underground market within the online RPG is so vast and lucrative that they have made almost $50,000 a year. This money is earned in a large variety of ways. However, the most common thing to do to earn a little extra money is to sell weapons to one another.

The transaction itself is done over eBay. Once a player buys an item online using real-world currency, both players will meet in-game and exchange goods. It is that simple. The most common customers are usually players who are looking for exceptionally rare and tough to find weapons or gear. So instead of spending hours trying to find the items on their own, they just buy them from someone who is offering to sell.

Despite Fallout 76’s less than stellar reputation, there is still a thriving community. It might not be as big as some other titles. But the community that does exist is clearly very passionate and exceptionally loyal and patient. Hopefully, Fallout 76 is able to turn into the game that was promised for the good of the fanbase. They deserve it.
