Dark Vale Games’ FORGE Releases First Gameplay Video

Dark Vale Games, an independent video game developer based in Southern California, has launched a “Kick-Finish” campaign for FORGE, the upcoming multiplayer-only PC game that bridges the gap between the skill-based action of shooters and the strategic player vs player competition of massively multiplayer online games.

FORGE’s Kick-Finish campaign is a pre-order and fundraising program conducted through crowd-sourcing site Kickstarter.  The funds raised will help Dark Vale Games complete the title on-time, add additional polish, build a strong community and add future-planned features early.  The game’s Kickstarter page can be found at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/166522941/forge.

“We’re not just developers, we’re also the gamers who have been in your guilds, your raids, and your battlegrounds spit-balling about what we all wish online multiplayer competition could be,” said Tim Alvis, COO/CTO of Dark Vale Games.  “Dark Vale Games and FORGE is our solution – an incredible online experience that rewards players for developing skills, not grinding for gear.  And through this Kick-Finish campaign, we’re giving all those online gamers the chance to get a game made by them, for them and to have a voice in the future of the title.”

Dark Vale Games has dubbed their Kickstarter campaign a Kick-Finish because FORGE is already well into development and heading towards BETA later this summer.  The Kick-Finish will help the team release FORGE on-time and on-budget with the high level of polish expected from a AAA title.  In addition, if the new studio’s fundraising goal of $300,000 is surpassed by certain amounts, feature sets currently planned for the future of the game can be added sooner and additional community feedback and direction can be incorporated.

Backers on Kickstarter can pre-order FORGE for the starter pledge of $15, an amount that awards the full game with priority access to play prior to general release, as well as a special “Founders” title for in-game recognition.  For just $30.00 – or half the price of a traditionally published retail PC game — backers will also receive the first six months of DLC for free, access to the closed BETA and future Alpha updates, exclusive art, and membership as a founding member of the test team on the game’s forums.  More details about larger pledges and rewards can be found on FORGE’s Kickstarter page at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/166522941/forge.

“We’re working with Kickstarter to finish what we’ve already started free of the pressures from outside publishers or investors,” said David Domm, CEO of Dark Vale Games.  “Without a doubt, FORGE will be completed and released, but with a little help from gamers the world over, we can fully build the game we envisioned with the extra features our growing community is clamoring for.”

Dark Vale Games recently opened sign-ups for their upcoming closed BETA for FORGE, with the initial 10,000 slots filling up so quickly that the company opened an additional 1,000 slots last week in order to satisfy their growing and excited community.  Fans should head to www.PlayForgeWar.com to sign-up and join the community.  In addition, the game’s Facebook page will be the place the latest news, artwork and stories and can be found at www.Facebook.com/PlayForgeWar.
