If your home theater or gaming set-up is anything like mine, space is at a premium. Every time I fire up my Xbox 360 and get ready to play a Kinect game, I go through this routine of moving my furniture back and sliding the ottoman into another room. Sure it not a big deal but it is certainly a pain in the butt. Well, Nyko has a remedy for this problem and it comes on the form of a simple clip-on accessory.
Aptly called “Zoom”, this simple clip-on accessory attaches to you Kinect allowing you to game in smaller spaces like or dorm room or small gaming room. So if you live in a smaller apartment or suite, or have a living room like mine where space is an issue, then the Zoom for the Kinect is just for you. The Zoom essentially reduces the distance required for the Kinect to function properly by up to 40%. It reduces the play range needed in order to enjoy your Kinect gaming. The Zoom requires no additional power, cables, software or batteries and is compatible with any Kinect game for both single and multiplayer use.
The Zoom is a unique optical lens attachment with a black piano finish that matches perfectly with the Kinect. While at E3 this year, Sam Dalsimer (Senior Account Executive at Nyko) took the time to show up how easily this attachment was able to connect to the Kinect. I was even able to attach it to the Kinect without issue and without breaking it which is quite remarkable given my track record. It is slick looking attachment, it is light and perfect for my Kinect gaming experience. I can now stand closer to the TV while still being accurately tracked by the Kinect sensors without having to re-arrange my gaming room.
The Zooms wide angle lens also allows two players to stand further beside each other at a distance that would normally only accommodate one player. By playing 40% closer to the Kinect you can enjoy the game much more as the play space needed is much less. It is a slick addiction to your gaming experience and will come in at an MSRP of $29.99. So you won’t have to break your budget to pick up this accessory.
Nyko’s “Zoom” will be available on August 16, 2011.
