Dynasty Warriors Godseekers Breaks with Hack and Slash Tradition to Bring Tactical Turn Based Combat to the Series
Dynasty Warriors is back but this time it’s a grid-based, tactical game! KOEI TECMO America released this newest installation in the series, called Dynasty Warriors: Godseekers, today for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. It looks like this will be a digital only game so if you’re a fan of Dynasty Warriors and turn based combat, don’t wait to pick up a used copy of the game on the cheapsky because you’ll never find one!
Dynasty Warriors is well known in the world of hack and slash games. Usually, you get to control a Three Kingdoms era Chinese hero and beat the living snot out of hundreds and thousands of poor opposing soldiers who just can’t hold a candle to your legendary might. Godseekers follows this traditional formula pretty closely, giving you grid-based control of characters from an ever-growing roster of Chinese Legends, and bringing them into tactical combat against hundreds and thousands of seemingly incompetent, yet swarming enemies. We get two new characters added to the huge list of legends: Lei Bin, who basically uses a gun, and Lixia, a mysterious girl with magical icy powers. To learn more about these new characters and see what the strategic combat system will look like check out the trailer below:
Fans that purchase a digital copy of the game from the PSN store within the first month of release will also receive a couple cosmetic bonus goodies. “Lixia can switch her standard costume for the “Diaochan” costume, while Guan Yinping and Lu Lingqi will receive special costumes sporting fox ears and tails.” These costumes will be available until February 27th and it’s good to see them included at no additional cost or as some sort of DLC.
