Cinematic Games, The Uncanny Voice, and The Last of Us

The Last of Us is a video game that is still being talked about two years after its release. Winning countless game of the year awards and being arguably, Naughty Dog’s definitive product, it will probably be talked about for many more years. This is strange, considering that The Last of Us has so much in common with other games and movies. Every idea it explores has been done before in both mediums.

Story wise, I believe so many people were moved by The Last of Us due to its lack of the uncanny voice and the proper integration of cinematic storytelling. The question is, where will things go from here? How long will it be until we see what the Last of Us brought to the table in larger, more ambitious video games?
