Orion Backgammon Launches on iOS With Verifiable Fair Dice

Challenge Your Friends in Orion Backgammon

Independent developer Arthea has released Orion Backgammon on iOS, bringing its online backgammon experience to iPhone and iPad users following its Android launch in August. The free-to-play game aims to address a longstanding community concern by letting players independently verify whether their dice rolls are fair.

“Every backgammon community has the same argument about rigged dice,” said Valentin, founder of Arthea. “I didn’t want to ask players to trust me. In Orion the dice seed is sealed before the match starts and checked on your own phone when it ends.”

Orion Backgammon features real-time matches against other players, ten ranked leagues, and seasonal rewards. Players can also compete in a Masters tournament every weekend, which uses in-game coins rather than real money.

Beyond competitive matches, the game offers twelve themed destinations, including a café in Tangier and a moon garden in Kyoto. Each location features an offline campaign where players can challenge AI opponents. Other features include clubs, friend challenges, and the classic doubling cube mechanic.

Fairness is a major part of the experience. Orion Backgammon includes a public verifier that lets players check individual games using their game IDs, giving them a way to verify the dice results themselves instead of simply relying on the developer’s word.

Orion Backgammon is available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play in 44 languages. The game includes optional cosmetic purchases and a season pass, but features no advertisements or real-money gameplay. With its focus on transparent dice rolls and familiar backgammon mechanics, this could be a perfect title for players seeking a competitive mobile experience.
