Orpheus: To Hell and Back Launches on PC Following Successful Kickstarter Campaign

Rescue Your Lost Love in Orpheus: To Hell and Back

It’s time to embark on an epic journey! Today, Orpheus: To Hell and Back has officially launched on Steam, bringing its retro-inspired action-puzzle adventure to PC after first debuting as a physical Game Boy Color cartridge. Released by Studio Loading, Kibou Entertainment, and Alunite Inc., the game is available for $2.99 (or regional equivalent).

To celebrate its release, the team released a brand-new gameplay trailer featuring original animated scenes. You can check it out right below.

The project first gained attention through a successful Kickstarter campaign, raising more than €16,000, over twice its original funding goal. Inspired by the classic Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, the game reimagines the legendary tale with charming 8-bit visuals and an 80s chibi-anime art style.

In the game, players journey into the underworld as Orpheus on a mission to rescue Eurydice from Hades. Along the way, they’ll solve environmental puzzles, overcome dangerous enemies, and rely on the magical power of Orpheus’ lyre. Different melodies allow players to charm foes, put them to sleep, or frighten them away. Hence, creating multiple ways to tackle each challenge.

The game combines classic puzzle-solving with light action while staying true to its retro roots. Its pixel-art presentation, chiptune soundtrack, and Game Boy-inspired design aim to recreate the feel of a classic handheld adventure while making it accessible to a new audience on PC.

Other notable features include support for both English and Japanese, as well as gameplay that embraces the nostalgic charm of vintage handheld gaming.

With its affordable price and distinctive retro presentation, Orpheus: To Hell and Back looks like a worthwhile pick for fans of classic action-puzzle adventures.
