Welcome to the Gold River Project
The Gold River Project is available on PC via Steam Early Access, welcoming players into a co-op, open-world survival adventure inspired by the rugged beauty and quiet unease of the Pacific Northwest. Developed by Fairview Games and co-published by Sightline Games, the title blends grounded survival mechanics with an atmosphere-rich sense of mystery. This encourages players to explore at their own pace while never quite feeling safe.
Playable solo or with friends, The Gold River Project drops players into a vast wilderness shaped by abandoned experiments. It features shifting seasons and unseen forces lurking just beyond the treeline. The game focuses less on combat and more on tension built through isolation, sound design, dynamic weather, and environmental storytelling. Every expedition feels like a calculated risk. Players will gather resources, build shelter, and decide how far they are willing to push into the unknown.
“From the beginning, we wanted The Gold River Project to feel like a real camping trip with friends, one where you’re free to explore, slow down, and enjoy the wilderness, but where the environment can quickly remind you that survival isn’t guaranteed,” said David Parkes, Co-Founder and Lead Game Designer at Fairview Games. “Early Access lets us build that experience alongside the community and shape the game into something deeper and more unpredictable over time.”
Unlike many survival games, progression remains firmly in the players’ hands. Seasons do not advance automatically. Instead, players choose when or if they move into more dangerous territory. The Early Access build includes core survival systems, co-op play, seasonal progression, base building, wildlife encounters, and exploration. Additional features, content, and polish will arrive as development continues toward a full 1.0 release, with a detailed roadmap available on the game’s Steam page.
