Roots Devour Explores Its Way to PC Later This Month

Uncover the Truth in Roots Devour

Roots Devour, a strategic exploration card game developed by Rewinding Games and published by GCORES PUBLISHING, will launch on January 27 on PC via Steam. The game will be available for $14.99 USD, with a limited launch discount of 10% available during the first two weeks, reducing the price to $13.49 USD.

Built around a distinctive card connection system, Roots Devour blends strategy, exploration, resource management, and deckbuilding into a cohesive experience. Players assume the role of a newborn eldritch entity summoned through a forbidden forest ritual. By extending living roots across the world, you consume creatures, drain environments, and push deeper into the unknown in search of hidden truths. You must carefully plan every expansion, as each connection fuels both growth and risk.

Unlike traditional card games, Roots Devour emphasizes spatial decision-making. Players must lay the cards and link them together using limited resources, creating an evolving web of possibilities. The full release includes 14 unique decks and hundreds of cards, enabling diverse synergies and playstyles. As progression continues, new abilities unlock, allowing players to reshape terrain, manipulate events, and survive dire situations.

The game unfolds across five chapters, with a full playthrough lasting roughly 10 to 15 hours. Environments range from shadowed forests to swamps, frozen mountains, and human settlements, each introducing new rules that demand adaptation. Along the way, players encounter mysterious characters whose fates are shaped through dialogue, trade, and control.

Roots Devour promises to deliver a grim, gothic atmosphere through refined artwork and an immersive soundscape rather than explicit gore. Fragmented lore and meaningful choices drive the narrative, creating an experience defined by exploration, tension, and deliberate strategy.
