Sail the High Seas in Windrose
Windrose, the upcoming pirate survival adventure previously known as Crosswind, introduced its new identity at the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted showcase. Developer Windrose Crew shared a fresh trailer that highlights ship combat, exploration, and on-foot action, giving a broader look at what awaits players when the game arrives on Steam.
Set during the Age of Piracy, the story follows a freelance courier who is betrayed and left behind after a mission collapses. A simple struggle to endure gradually expands into a much larger conflict involving competing empires, pirate factions, and a shadowy power moving quietly across the seas. The narrative travels through ports, islands, and unsettled waters while building on both personal and world-shaping stakes.
Players command a range of ship types, from swift cutters to versatile frigates and towering galleons. Naval encounters move smoothly between long-range cannon fire and direct boarding battles. Coastal strongholds take damage from afar before the fight shifts ashore, and the game supports cooperative play for groups who want to sail and explore together.
Survival forms the core of the experience. A range of biomes offers materials for crafting tools, constructing shelters, and developing those shelters into organized outposts. Crew members directly boost gathering and production when you recruit them, making resource management more efficient as challenges escalate.
Combat blends precision and adaptability. A mix of melee weapons and firearms encourages varied approaches, with parries, dodges, and strategic strikes playing a major role. Difficult bosses guard valuable rewards, pushing players to refine their skills as they progress.
Windrose aims to deliver a broad, adventurous journey across land and sea, offering players a blend of survival, exploration, and action within a vivid world shaped by ambition and conflict. Go ahead and wishlist it right now!
