Prepare to Fight Your Friends in Battlewrights
Battlewrights appeared in the official selection of the Deutsche Indie Showcase, presented by 1UP Media, where Florian Malogajskithe, the developer, unveiled a brand-new trailer featuring never-before-seen gameplay footage. The showcase gave players a closer look at the fast-paced chaos and refined mechanics that define this local multiplayer brawler. The newly released trailer highlights fresh moments of combat, clever movement options, and the tight arena design that encourages constant action.
Alongside the trailer reveal, the team confirmed a small change to the release schedule. Battlewrights now launches on January 15, 2026, following a one-month delay. The developers shared that the extra time will help polish features and ensure a smoother launch experience. More updates and announcements are expected as development continues.
Battlewrights focuses on accessible yet skill-driven combat for two to four players in local multiplayer. The controls stay intentionally simple. Players throw their weapon with a single button press, then press again to recall it. Matches revolve around smart positioning, quick reactions, and precise timing, with victory going to the last player standing. All characters share the same core abilities, keeping competition fair while rewarding mastery.
Advanced techniques add depth for players who want more. Throwing a weapon in mid-air triggers a throw jump, which pairs naturally with wall jumps to reach higher platforms. Well-timed dodges allow players to evade incoming weapons and instantly counterattack. Charged throws, perfect throws, self-evades, and powerful pickups can turn the tide of a match in seconds.
Beyond multiplayer battles, Battlewrights includes a time trial mode designed for movement mastery. Players can chase bronze, silver, and gold times, or aim for the demanding developer medal. With four characters and multiple color options, the game captures the spirit of classic couch multiplayer while pushing reflexes and friendships to their limits.
