Wolverine Might Take the Center Stage
Insomniac Games’ long-awaited Wolverine is finally on the verge of stepping back into the spotlight. According to Insider Gaming, the game is ready to be officially shown for the first time since its surprise reveal at the 2021 PlayStation Showcase. Sources suggest that PlayStation is lining up its next State of Play for the end of September. And Wolverine will most probably take the center stage.

Insider reports say the team has completed production on the game’s latest trailer. This makes its appearance at the event almost certain. If the reveal does not happen for some reason, the studio still plans to debut the trailer within the next few months. The Game Awards in December serves as the most likely fallback option.
The development of Wolverine has not been without setbacks. In December 2023, a ransomware attack hit Insomniac, leaking sensitive employee data and a large cache of early game footage. The incident forced the studio to make adjustments, though it remains unclear how much the plans for the game changed.
For now, there is no release date yet. Both PlayStation and Insomniac remain quiet, but given the timing of the new trailer, fans may not have to wait long. Wolverine is currently planned as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
While Wolverine may be the main attraction, the upcoming State of Play might showcase much more. Bungie’s revival of Marathon, the new Metroidvania-style God of War, and the striking Phantom Blade 0 are all said to be in the mix. There is also talk of Naughty Dog’s mysterious project, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, making an appearance. With Ghost of Yotei set to launch on October 2, 2025, PlayStation may also use the event to spotlight one final look at the game before release.
