Make Your Move Wisely in Versalis
Aggressive Combustion has unveiled its latest project, Versalis, during the Best Indie Games Big Fall Showcase. Coming to Steam in 2026, the game brings a fresh spin to the tactical collectible card genre. It combines fast-paced strategy with a unique card-flipping mechanic designed for up to four players.
At the heart of Versalis is its card-flipping system, where placement matters as much as the cards themselves. Placing a card next to an opponent’s allows players to flip it if the adjacent edge is stronger, steadily shifting the board in their favor. Victory comes down to careful positioning and tactical foresight, as matches end once the board is full or players run out of cards.
The game draws players into a crossover of heroes and villains from different worlds, each belonging to distinct Archetypes such as Fighters, Protectors, Instigators, and Specialists. These roles open up a variety of moves, from rotating cards to blocking captures, ensuring each match unfolds differently. Layered on top of this are powerful Dynamics, special interactions triggered when certain characters meet on the board, creating unpredictable twists that can change the momentum in an instant.
For those who prefer to sharpen their skills alone, Versalis offers a series of single-player trials. Multiplayer fans, meanwhile, can set up arenas where up to four players face off in tense tactical battles. Collectors will find more than 50 unique cards to unlock, featuring different rarities and alternate art versions. Booster packs earned through matches and trials expand the collection, while duplicates can be converted into tokens to craft desired cards.
