Railborn Officially Revealed by Washbear Studio

Get Ready to Build Your Train in Railborn

Ottawa-based Washbear Studio has officially announced its latest project, Railborn. It is a survival game set on a mysterious alien world where the only safe place is a train you build and expand yourself on. Designed for solo players or co-op sessions with up to four players, this game blends survival mechanics with strategic train management in a world overtaken by tangled rail lines. It will be coming out sometime in 2026 on PC via Steam. You can check out the official reveal trailer below.

Players begin with nothing and must scavenge for materials to build their train. They will be responsible for adding floors, compartments, and systems to stay alive. The world beyond the train is dangerous and decaying, filled with threats like starvation, toxic air, and environmental hazards. As players explore the branching track network, they face the choice between risky foot travel and carefully maneuvering the train to reach critical destinations.

Resource management lies at the heart of the game. Players will direct power flow, gather and distribute water, and customize their train’s controls. Along the way, they collect rare plant life to restore and preserve biomes on their moving base. This will help them bring life back to the dying planet.

The world of Railborn holds secrets, too. Abandoned outposts and towering alien monoliths hint at a deeper mystery behind the track-covered world as well. Furthermore, players must guide their train up a vertical track into orbit in a final attempt to rescue the colonists and save the environment.

Blending mystery, survival, and creativity, Railborn invites players to build, explore, and survive one railcar at a time.
