STRIDEN Open Beta Playtest Will Go Live From 4 to 6 April

Help in Shaping STRIDEN

After a strong showing at Steam Next Fest and a major holiday playtest, 5Fortress is inviting you to join the Open Beta for STRIDEN, a first-person shooter shaped by player feedback. From April 4 to 6, you’ll get to experience the latest version on Steam before it moves into Early Access.

Many improvements have been made, though some features, like vaulting and mantling, are still in progress. The team is focused on refining the game with the community’s help, making every update count.

According to Game Director Johan Sundqvist, STRIDEN brings back what made FPS games great, keeping the focus on gameplay rather than flashy extras. The Open Beta introduces two key modes. In Transmit Mode, you’ll battle across three intense maps in an objective-driven PvP experience. If you prefer co-op, PvE Survival Mode challenges you and your team to hold off relentless waves of enemies.

Player feedback has led to major changes in the game as well. A complete audio overhaul enhances weapon sounds, movement, and overall immersion. The Time-to-Kill has been fine-tuned based on community input, and weapon skins are now available. Joining mid-game is smoother, allowing you to pick your team and spawn point, and the black screen bug from the holiday playtest has been fixed.

The construction system has been reworked so that enemy teams can destroy structures, adding new layers of strategy. A new health and armor system makes base defense more dynamic, with repairable defenses and expanded buildable items. The Electron Tube Transport Mechanic now requires you to carry the tube back to your base, encouraging teamwork and protection.

With all these updates, the Open Beta is your chance to experience STRIDEN’s evolution and help shape its future.
