An Enhancement for Space Engineers
Keen Software House has launched the Fieldwork update for Space Engineers, now live on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. This free update delivers a major overhaul to PvE gameplay, introducing reworked Cargo Ships and Unknown Signals, new blocks, and a range of quality-of-life improvements.
NPC Cargo Ships have been upgraded with improved AI, modern weapon systems, and distinctive faction-based designs. These include traders, pirates, and military factions, each offering different challenges. Strong Unknown Signals now offer high-end loot, encouraging both cooperation and competition during encounters.
There are several new blocks that would expand gameplay possibilities. The Prototech Fusion Reactor offers a powerful energy source for large grids, while the Small Oxygen Tank is ideal for limited space environments. The Large Grid Small Connector allows better integration between small and large ships. To support team-based missions, the new Refill Station provides quick access to essential resources like oxygen and hydrogen.
Additional improvements include expanded keybinding options and clearer automation via updated action slots. The Projector block now features directional indicators, simplifying blueprint alignment and block management.
A paid Fieldwork Pack DLC is also available, featuring decorative blocks tailored for creating hidden bunkers, research labs, and mobile outposts. It complements the update’s theme of fieldwork and scientific exploration.
To celebrate the release, Steam players can benefit from increased drop rates for all skins via Unknown Signals through May 30. Strong Unknown Signals, in particular, now have an improved chance of yielding rare cosmetics. Drop cooldowns have also been reduced, offering more opportunities to earn in-game rewards during this limited-time event.
Both the update and DLC aim to enrich player creativity and challenge across all platforms. So, dive into this brand-new experience right now!
