Face the Horror in the Thing Remastered
Nightdive Studios has quietly set December 5, 2024, as the release date for The Thing: Remastered. A recent Xbox Wire post hints that this survival horror reimagining could launch later this week. The post, covering Xbox game releases from December 2 to December 6, mentions titles like The Thaumaturge, Marvel Rivals, and early access for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Surprisingly, it also lists The Thing: Remastered, even though Nightdive hasn’t announced an official date, and its Steam page still says “coming soon.” This unexpected mention has sparked curiosity.
Nightdive revealed its latest remaster during IGN Live in June, aiming to bring a chilling upgrade to the 2002 classic by the end of 2024. Today, the studio shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the release is set for December but didn’t confirm if the December 5 date mentioned in an Xbox Wire post is correct. Whenever it drops, players can expect The Thing: Remastered on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
The studio has built a strong reputation for remastering classic games. Their work includes updates for the Turok trilogy, Star Wars: Dark Forces, System Shock, Shadow Man, and more. Now, The Thing: Remastered is bringing even more enhancements to the original game. Expect smoother visuals with dynamic lighting, up to 144fps, 4K resolution, antialiasing, and other gameplay improvements for a fresh experience on modern platforms.
