Black Dragon Mage Is on Its Way
The German solo indie game developer Datablob has announced the release date for Black Dragon Mage. This highly anticipated action roguelite shooter will be coming out on 4th December on PC via Steam with support for Steam Deck and Linux via Proton. It will be available at a 20% launch discount on Steam, so make sure to grab this opportunity.
Black Dragon Mage is a dark fantasy action-roguelike with a top-down bullet heaven style. Its 16-bit retro visuals bring the world to life, packed with swarms of demonic foes, intense boss fights, and endless build possibilities. The game draws heavy inspiration from titles like Death Must Die, Halls of Torment, Boneraiser Minions, Bomberman, the SNES-era of RPGs, Diablo, 20 Minutes Till Dawn, and Vampire Survivors.
However, the cool thing is that players can ride a dragon companion to turn the tide in battle. The dragon mount unleashes the staff’s energy for a powerful ultimate attack. Summon it for a short time by refilling the mana bar with potions. The gameplay focuses on the player’s control. You’ll aim your attacks yourself, manage your ammo, and time your moves carefully. Spells, activated in real-time through the Hotbar, are key to surviving the 15-minute timer in battle.
Players can choose three spells to place in their hot bar, arranging them in any order they like. To unlock more spells, they level up, gain experience, and collect loot drops. These spells cover defensive, magical, and offensive abilities. The game offers two different mages and ever-changing environments full of dangers that players can use to their advantage or end up running into a cactus and dying unexpectedly. The world keeps evolving, constantly adding new challenges and uncovering more of the Black Dragon Mage’s realm.
