Corporeal Officially Announced for Steam

Things Are Getting Creepy in Corporeal

As Halloween is right around the corner, the gaming industry is also getting more spookier. There is one such title that stood out among the rest and that is Corporeal. The New Zealand-based indie team Cold Out has revealed this spine-chilling horror game in an official announcement trailer. The unique thing about this game is that it uses photo albums of real-life people and not in-game rendering, to unfold the paranormal mystery.

The result of that choice is a game that feels eerily real, at least in this reveal trailer. It gives off vibes of a Sam Barlow and Half Mermaid game, like Immortality, with a hint of Sinister (the 2012 horror gem). Just like in Sinister, where a writer digs through old home movies and photos to uncover the dark secrets of his new house, this game seems to promise a haunting story waiting to be pieced together.

Corporeal is a paranormal mystery puzzle game where you rebuild a haunted family photo album. You play as the only survivor of strange events from the mid-90s. You must dig through old photos saved from the wreckage of your childhood home. Uncover hidden clues, meet lingering spirits, and piece together the dark history of your cursed family.

Explore a photo album filled with analog-style controls and puzzles. Piece together clues in any order to reveal the mystery of the family. Think of the game as a mix between Sinister and Immortality, with hints of Storyteller by Annapurna and the eerie vibes of the cult horror film Lake Mungo.
