POLYARIS Will Journey Onto Steam in Q1 2025

Survive the Cold in POLYARIS

Developer Magic Pie Games is thrilled to announce that its upcoming title, POLYARIS, will be coming out on PC via Steam in Q1 2025. The release date will be unveiled sometime soon. This single-player, first-person survival skiing game has more than 11,000 wishlists so far on the platform. Furthermore, the development team is also planning to release a demo after its first closed beta test, so keep an eye out for it.

POLYARIS

Polyaris is a single-player, first-person survival skiing game. It takes place in a post-nuclear, procedurally generated Arctic world. You step into the shoes of an engineer and polar explorer who ends up in the far north, right on the border between Norway and Russia. To make things worse, a nuclear war breaks out, but being in the Arctic, you’re spared from the immediate fallout. However, you lose all contact with the outside world. Now it’s just you, your skis, the melting glaciers, and a mystery that needs unraveling.

Magie Pie Games has also shared what’s been happening to the game this summer. The team has made major progress, introduced new features, and improved the ones you love—all to make your experience even better. Here is what’s new:

1. Boating: Players can now navigate the icy Arctic ocean with the new boat mechanic, inspired by The Long Drive and built with Unreal Engine. It’s still early, but you’ll find exploration a lot more fun.

2. Survival Swimming: If you fall into the icy water, you won’t face a game-over. Instead, you can swim to safety, though it’s a tough challenge with freezing debuff that serves as a true survival test.

3. Fishing: Players can now catch their food in the vast ocean, adding another layer to the survival experience.

4. Better Sounds: You’ll notice new character and footstep sounds that bring the game world to life. This is just the beginning of our efforts to make your audio experience more immersive.

5. Controller Support: You can use your Xbox controller now, and we’re working on full Steam Deck compatibility, even though optimizing Unreal Engine 5 is tricky.
