Debtor’s Club Is Set to Run the Business on Steam Later This Month

Shape Your Path in Debtor’s Club

Developer mecagames and publisher indie.io have officially announced the release date for their upcoming title, Debtor’s Club. This unique narrative-driven resource management game will be arriving on PC via Steam on 26 August 2024. Take a look at the official release date announcement trailer below.

In Debtor’s Club, players find themselves in the messy office of a tax collection department, hidden away in the shady corners of city hall. The mission is to get people to pay their overdue taxes, no matter what it takes. Persuade them, pressure them, dig up dirt, or even send in the muscle to shake things up. The mayor only cares about one thing and that is filling the quota by day’s end and keeping the city’s treasury from going broke.

Players must decide whether to resist or surrender to a city drowning in corruption. A simple case might force a tough choice: fulfill the collector’s duty, strip a debtor bare, or show compassion and test their principles. Each decision shapes the narrative and sends ripples through the city.

The game blends hand-crafted content with an innovative dialogue system, allowing players to have dynamic conversations with debtors. Manage a City Hall team, and assign employees with unique skills to different cases. Minigames and tasks reflect the challenges faced by the mayor’s top employees while uncovering city corruption. Player decisions shape the tax collector’s fate, leading to various narrative paths and endings.

Mecagames’ new Streamer Mode adds a fresh layer of interactivity to content creation. This Twitch integration lets streamers engage their audience in real-time decision-making. When activated, a purple envelope appears on-screen, inviting viewers to vote on how the streamer should handle challenges. Each vote directly influences the outcome, making every decision a collective choice that adds excitement and unpredictability to the gameplay. Results are revealed instantly, keeping both streamers and their audience on the edge of their seats.
