Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi Fans Find New Trademark
Back in March of this current year, Bandai Namco made an exciting revelation by announcing their active development on an all-new installment in the revered Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi series.
Fast forward to the present, and the franchise aficionados have stumbled upon a significant tidbit. A trademark application for “Sparking! Zero” was recently submitted in the United States at the conclusion of the preceding month. It’s worth noting that the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series is affectionately referred to as the Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! series within Japan. This nomenclature similarity is particularly noteworthy since all three of the original titles in this renowned series incorporate “Sparking!” in their names.
This intriguing discovery has ignited fervent speculation regarding the official title of the upcoming game in the series and the potential for an imminent announcement:
Gematsu, a prominent source of gaming news, surmises, “The trademark could suggest the game’s title will be Dragon Ball Z: Sparking! Zero, at least in Japan, as well as that a follow-up announcement is coming soon.”
However, as of now, the extent of our knowledge regarding this highly anticipated sequel remains somewhat limited. The project is still said to be in the “early stages of development,” with no official revelations regarding supported platforms or a release date. Bandai Namco did provide a tantalizing glimpse into the game by sharing a brief teaser video featuring Goku in his awe-inspiring Super Saiyan Blue form, a fan-favorite transformation from the Dragon Ball Super series.
As a brief historical note, the Budokai Tenkaichi series made its debut back in 2005 on the PlayStation with the release of Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi. This inaugural success was swiftly succeeded by Budokai Tenkaichi 2 in 2006 and Budokai Tenkaichi 3 in 2007, both of which were released on the Nintendo Wii platform, solidifying their status as classics in the franchise’s storied history.
