Pikmin 4 Tops the Japanese Game Charts for the Third Week in a Row
According to Famitsu, with roughly 401,853 copies sold in its first week, Pikmin 4 became the bestseller for the third time. In Japan, total physical sales were around 596,388. The Legend of Zelda comes in second. So far, almost 1.8 million copies have been sold. Pikmin 4’s sales success can be attributed to its captivating gameplay and loyal fanbase. Its unique blend of strategy and adventure has resonated with players, making it a must-have title. Although not surpassing Pikmin 4’s sales, the Legend of Zelda continues to maintain a strong presence in the market with its immersive storytelling and breathtaking visuals.
In Japan, Pikmin 4 has also seen impressive sales numbers, solidifying its position as a top-selling game in the country. The game’s popularity can be attributed to its innovative gameplay mechanics and charming characters, which have resonated with Japanese gamers. Additionally, The Legend of Zelda has garnered a strong following in Japan, with its rich narrative and stunning graphics captivating players nationwide.
When the game was first released last month, the first week’s sales exceeded those of the previous three Pikmin titles combined. The games that made up this week’s top 10 list were all Switch games. This success can be attributed to the Nintendo Switch’s popularity in Japan and the strong lineup of games available for the console. The Legend of Zelda’s inclusion in the top 10 list further solidifies its position as a must-have title for Switch owners in Japan.
The extensive national advertising effort that Pikmin 4 received is credited with the game’s popularity in Japan.
Despite its popularity in Japan, Pikmin 4’s sales need to be higher compared to Tears of the Kingdom. However, they still surpass other major releases, like Final Fantasy XVI. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe secured the third position this week with an initial sales target of 10,749 copies. Meanwhile, Nobunaga’s Ambition claimed the fourth and fifth positions, with approximately 10,633 copies sold on Switch and 10,434 on PS4, respectively.
