More Exclusives on PC?
PlayStation has just posted a new job listing for a Senior Director, PC Planning and Strategy, further proving their intention of expanding further in the PC Gaming space.
As reported by @BenjiSales on Twitter, the new position will be mainly tasked with leading PC growth and commercial strategy, Growing PC MAU for PC content, and developing a PC store strategy.
This should be enough proof that Sony is at the very least planning to not only publish more PlayStation exclusives on PC, but to also have its own store competing with Steam and Epic Games Store.
The role overview in the official PlayStation job posting goes as follows. “The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategy and commercial activity within Global Channel sales and will deliver a single, optimized PC Sales growth and commercial plan to hub and territory teams to implement. Identifying future sectors & partnerships for commercial growth. The plan should support the delivery of the agreed global channel sales critical metrics.”
PlayStation has also hinted at its interest in PC gaming in October of 2021 when the publisher launched a dedicated PC label known as “PlayStation PC LLC”. Fans since then have been waiting for more information regarding PlayStation’s future in the PC gaming space.
So far, PlayStation has released many of its beloved console exclusives on PC, including the fan-favorite God of War 2018, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Death Stranding, Horizon Zero Dawn, and many more.
It is worth noting that even if Sony is currently planning a stronger PC presence, fans should keep in mind that building an entire store from the ground up will undoubtedly take a lot of development time. So PC gamers that are planning to wait for this PlayStation store might want to consider buying a PlayStation 5 console in the meanwhile.
