Demos Are Always Worth Checking Out
Developer ROCKFISH Games has released a new demo for Everspace 2 to show how much it has changed since the prototype version was revealed.
Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games, had this to say about Everspace 2 and the new demo:
“As a 100% self-funded veteran indie dev, maximum transparency with our fans has always been at the very center of our communication. As said many times before, we have a super strong vision about the game our team is passionate about making, and we’re fully committed to the promises we made in our Kickstarter campaign. However, we understand that making an arguably insanely pretty space game that borrows from various iconic space shooters as well as some of the most popular open-world ARPGs and looter-shooters might create expectations way beyond what’s within our budget and our capabilities as an indie studio of 20ish developers plus a handful of highly-talented external contractors. So, even though we have hosted over 90 weekly gamedev and community streams on our Twitch and YouTube channels where we always show the latest EVERSPACE 2 dev build live in action and answer all sorts of burning questions from our community, we understand that the space devil can be in the space details for some hardcore space sim aficionados. Hence, we’ve decided to release a new demo that is 100% based on the most recent Early Access version so that every space pilot on the fence about pulling the trigger can check out our work without any strings attached.”
The new demos seems to offer plenty of content to see if Everspace 2 is for you or not. Players will have access to the first five main missions, two side missions, and many random encounters. The demo has no time limit, so you can take all the time you want to explore the first sector of the Ceto system. The demo is capped at level five, so you can’t grow too powerful since you will be able to carry over your progress into the main game if you decide to pick it up.
In the next update set to hit sometime in the fall will add the fourth system, Khaït Nebula, where players will get to catch up with the Shadow Creatures and help them with a mating ritual, and if successful, they will reward you with loot. Okay.
In addition to raising the maximum player level and adding a set of new player perks, the autumn update will also add several chapters to the campaign.
