Indie JRPG Hit Edge of Eternity Gets Release Window

No Need to Wait Forever

Edge of Eternity has managed to get a lot of love, despite the fact the game hasn’t officially been released yet. It’s currently available in beta form on Steam Access, and has garnered 1400 reviews and has a Very Positive rating, so it’s clear that it’s a game the has a lot of people excited, and even more people will be excited to play it when it officially releases.

Edge of Eternity

The wait is almost over, as developer Midgar Studio and publisher Dear Villagers confirmed a release window of Spring 2021 for Steam, PS4, and Xbox One. Set on a dying planet, the game follows a young soldier named Daryon as he searches for a cure for the all-consuming corrosion. The game takes inspiration from both Eastern and Western RPGs, and the turn based combat has a strategic edge similar to that seen in PS1’s Koudelka or South Park: The Fractured But Whole, as you can move your characters around specific cells on the battlefield.

Despite being an indie title the game’s managed to draw some support from industry veterans, with Chrono Trigger and Xenoblade Chronicles composer, Yasunori Matsuda, even contributing to the score.

Currently five chapters of the game are available on the beta, with a further three on the way. The next chapter, The God’s Herald, will be available in November, with A Message From Beyond due out in Q1 2021 and the final chapter, The Ascent, coinciding with the game’s official release in the spring. If you’re interested in the game, don’t mind waiting for the full story, and don’t mind the occasional bug, then you can download the beta version from Steam already, and get started on your journey.
