I Smell a MysteryÂ
A new Sherlock Holmes game is on its way. Confirmed by Frogwares today the world-famous detective is going to make an appearance on the next generation of consoles. Not to mention that this new title will also be available on PC, PS4. an Xbox One. Called Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One, fans can expect to see this game sometime in 2021. However, there is no exact release date at this time.
Judging by the title of this up and coming game, there seems to be a plan to create more than just one Sherlock Holmes adventure. The franchise as a whole is largely loved by most people, the movies starring Robert Downey Jr and the books written by Arthur Conan Doyle were all smash-hits so there is no reason to expect that this will not have at least some success.
The developers of Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One have made it clear that this version of Sherlock Holmes is going to one of the most unpredictable interpretations of the character to date. It should also be mentioned that Holmes’s beloved sidekick Dr. Watson will not be present this time around either. Instead players will be introduced to a new character called Jon. While this change is going to likely upsert long time fans of the Holmes series, it is certainly going to add a level of uncertainty to a well-known brand. Hopefully, this doesn’t totally “subvert expectation” in the way Game of Thrones or Star War has done.
Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One is a long way away from releasing but fans of mystery or adventure games should be looking at this title closely. It has been a very long time since fans of this very niche genre have been given anything noteworthy. This certainly has the potential to be a sleeper hit.
