Unofficial Mario 64 PC Port Scrubbed From Existence
Fan projects aren’t always doomed, just the ones made with Nintendo products. Another Nintendo Cease & Desist order is making the rounds, with the company’s lawyers scrubbing an unofficial Super Mario 64 PC port from the internet. Obviously there are no working links to the alleged project at this time.
The C&D comes our way via TorrentFreak and Lumen Database. The port in question came with 4K resolution support, fixes for wider monitors, and mapping for more modern control setups. Unlike previous Nintendo fan projects, steps were taken by the poster to remain relatively anonymous. This wasn’t some clever ploy to draw attention to an original project. Someone just really wanted a proper PC port of Super Mario 64.
The takedown efforts targeted YouTube videos, Google drive links, and any hosting sites that featured the files. It’s entirely possible you can still find the files, but doing so would be a risky venture. Who knows what dark and dreary rabbit holes you’d have to dive down to find what you were looking for? No, better at this point to wait and hope for the rumored Remastered Mario Collection to make an appearance. At this time, Super Mario 64 is not available on any modern consoles.
