Resident Evil 3 Remake Ships 2 Million Units In Five Days

Halfway to The Total Sales of the Original

Now that the Resident Evil 3 Remake has been out for a little while, how did it do? According to Capcom, the first week sales were excellent. The game shipped 2 million units in the first five days. That’s a pretty successful five days, no?

By comparison, the cumulative sales of the original game came in at about 3.5 million units. In other words, the remake is on track to outshine the original. According to the press release, over half of these sales were digital. This makes a certain amount of sense, given that we’re all supposed to be stuck inside at the moment.

Resident Evil 2’s Remake is also humming along, with around 6.5 million total sales at this time. Capcom has been doing excellent work on these remakes so far. This adds yet more fuel to the rumor fires regarding Resident Evil 4. With this kind of smashing success, it seems likely that Capcom will try and keep the gravy train on the tracks. Even if the game in question requires very little in the way of improvement. The Resident Evil 3 Remake is available now on PC, PS4, and the Xbox One. You can check out our review of the game here.
